The Cheney Tech team 809 TechnoWizards robotics traveled to Rochester, New York and competed in the Finger Lakes regional over the weekend. The TechnoWizards ran off five straight victories on Friday and a number 1 ranking before being defeated to end Friday with a 5 and 1 record and a 5th place ranking.
Then on Saturday morning we went 0-1-1 to finish the qualifying rounds 5 wins 2
losses and 1 tie. This was good enough to finish with a ranking of 8th out of 49
teams at the regional.
Saturday afternoon started the elimination rounds and because of our strong ranking we were the alliance captain of the 6th place alliance after selecting our two partners, from Newfane, NY and Colonie, NY we went to battle against the 3rd place alliance and after winning the first match, in match two Missy Leggo hit a 15 point super cell shot with seconds left to seal the victory and our advancement to the semi-finals.
We faced a very tough alliance in the semi-finals splitting the first two matches
and then losing the third match by just 6 points.
The driver Patrick Adams from Cheney and operator Katie Allsop from University High School along with Missy Leggo did a great job as our field team. Also Mr. Wooding's pit crew of Kevin Kolosky and Jasmine Carrion kept the robot in top shape all weekend. Remaining members Zac Diagnault, Rannon Caldwell, and Michael Appleyard contributed through-out the weekend to make this a truly special experience for all. |
